..My baby's constant crying is very stressful. How can I cope?

Expert Answers
Build a support networkyour pediatrician, your spouse, your mother, other parents anyone you can turn to when the crying gets too overwhelming. Sometimes just talking to someone about how stressed you feel can make all the difference. Other times, you may need to get away from your baby for a short break; find a trusted caretaker who can pitch in when you need to relax. Sometimes just a 20-minute drive or walk around the block is all it takes to wind down. If you feel like you just can't take it any more and you may hurt your baby, call your pediatrician, a friend, or a hotline for help. No matter how stressed you feel, know that you're still a good parent. And it's easy to feel rejected by your own child when he doesn't respond to your efforts to calm him down. Don't take it personally. All parents have trouble comforting their children on occasion. As long as your baby is growing well and your pediatrician says he's healthy, take comfort in the knowledge that this, too, will pass.
